How my journey began

I grew up in Northeast Philadelphia. Summer’s down the shore, block parties, knocking on friend’s doors to go to the playground, school dances, tons of kids in the neighborhood… It was a great childhood! However, we moved around a lot before & after my father’s unexpected death, but always stayed in the Tri-State area. Experiencing a tragedy at such a young age (6 years old) can create a great deal of anxiety in children. I struggled finding a sense of grounding, peace & calming. Appearing as an extrovert, always trying so hard to fit in & be “the best” I was dealing with my own internal chaos. I’ve always had an interesting view of death & the meaning of life which I believe lead me to health & fitness. I found yoga when I was 18 years old. My first yoga class was Bikram and I honestly got into it just for the workout, burning calories & trying to be as thin as possible (sigh). It opened my eyes to a whole new world & that was just the beginning. I moved to California in 2012 where I first tried Vinyasa & fell in love with the practice not just physically, but mentally. Finally, I felt a sense of release, clarity & connection. I grew a deeper understanding of how everything is connected-Your mind, body, spirit, the earth. I also dove deeper into nutrition & how to heal from within. I was certified to teach yoga in 2017, but will forever be a student! I still don’t have it all figured out.. I mean, who does!? But hopefully sharing bits of my journey can help you with yours!

Love always,

Toniann
